Day 1: Arrival Day:
Arrive 10.00 a.m. Full day ride to get to know your horse.
Receive saddle bags and maps
Overnight near the farm.
Day 2: Country Mansion:
Receive your guidelines for the next days. Transport to
start point of trail. Ride along Assaroe Lake, through
the forests of the Knader Wood to Cavanagarden House,
a beautiful country mansion set in its’ own farm of
1,000 acres.
Riding time 4 –5 hours
Day 3: Rossnowlagh:
From Cavanagarden House you will ride through the
farm to a quiet country road, which brings you to the
famous surfing beach of Rossnowlagh, miles of beach
and dunes stretch ahead of you. Rossnowlagh is the
home of a beautiful Franciscan Friary which has a small
museum housing stone age flints and old Irish musical
instruments. Take a break at the Smugglers Creek, then
enjoy the ride along the wonderful Rossnowlagh and
Murvagh beaches. Leaving Murvagh to follow a small
country road to a modern guesthouse
Approximately 4 hours riding.
Day 4: Ballinakillew Mountains:
Return to Murvagh Beach, you will have a magnificent
view of Slieve League – the highest sea cliffs in Europe –
and the Bluestack mountains. Keep to the shoreline and
leave the coast at St. Ernan’s Island. Follow small lanes
towards Ballinakillew Mountain, enjoy the views of
Barnesmore Gap on your left and the Blanket bogs formed
over 7000 years ago.
Approximately 5 – 6 hours riding
Overnight Moorlands Guesthouse.
Day 5: Collection after breakfast and farewell to your faithful
Steed.

The Donegal Trail is an unguided trail ride.
You can ride the Donegal Trail only with a minimum of two riders.
The unguided
Trails are suited to a minimum of 2 persons - but, if you really
would like to ride a Trail and you don't have
a riding companion we have the possibility to help you find one
on our Meeting
Page on the Internet.
General:
In order to participate in our Trail riders must be fit and able
to trot, canter and gallop at ease, You must also be capable
of taking good care of your horse: feed , groom and tack up.
On all programmes children must be over 12 years of age and good
riders and also must be capable of spending long hours in the
saddle.
